abstract:
Helichrysum italicum subsp. microphyllum (Willd.) Nyman, a tipycal of the Mediterranea islands (Sardinia, Corsica), grows frequently on dry cliffs and sandy soil along the coast. Helichrysum has significant ecological and pharmacological properties and there is great interest for its potential use. Even though significant ecological and pharmacological properties have been attributed to the essential oils of Helychrysum species, very little is known on the phenological behaviour of the species in natural environment. In this paper, observations of the annual vegetative and reproductive cycle of Helychrysum in a coastal area in North-Western Sardinia, Italy, are reported
