Abstract:
Correlated measurements of radioluminescence, photoluminescence and thermoluminescence were performed including decay kinetics measurements under UV and 22Na(511 keV) photon excitations on the Mo-doped and doubly (Mo,Y) doped PbWO4 single crystals in a wide concentration range (200 50 000 ppm) of Mo-doping. Y-codoping results in significant trapping states suppression, which were induced by the Mo doping. Subsequently, an improvement of timing characteristics, that is a speed up of the scintillation decay process, of doubly doped material with respect to Y-free crystals is achieved. For the optimum Mo concentration of 2750-10 000 ppm the timing characteristics are fully comparable to an undoped PbWO4,
while the light yield shows the enhancement by the factor of at least 2.2.
