Simulation of Hard Shaped Particles
Apart for the field of Lyotropic Liquid Cristals, the simulation of hard particles has been longly regarded as a tool for checking idealized theories. Nowdays, Colloidal Science, Granular Matter and Nano Fluidics deal with objects that can be described as hard shaped particles.
While there is a vast choice of simulation tools and libraries for atoms, molecules and in general "soft" particles, this is not the case for "hard" particles.
To bridge this gap, we want to develop libraries for the simulation of Hard Shaped Objects. In particular, it is important to develop fast algorithms for:
1. detecting overlaps
2. calculating distances
Such building blocks are the basis for
* Monte Carlo Simulations
* Event Driven Molecular Dynamics
* Event Driven Brownian Dynamics
The language choosen is C++.
