abstract:
Laboratory tests were carried out to determine the natural durability of Dunarobba fossil forest wood to the attack by Basidiomycetes (Coriolus versicolor and Poria placenta) and the insect borer Hylotrupes bajulus. From the results obtained it is possible to conclude that Dunarobba wood is very resistant to the Basidiomycetes and the boring insect Hylotrupes bajulus. The conclusion is that the wood of Dunarobba cannot be attacked by wood xylophagous fungi or insects. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
