The Italian EMBnet Node - National Research Council of Italy - Institute for Biomedical Technologies Bari, Italy

EMBnet's Italian National Node is represented by the National Research Council (CNR) Institute for Biomedical Technologies (ITB) in Bari. The EMBnet team is among the pioneers of the creation of EMBnet, and was designated as Italian EMBnet National Node with a ministerial appointment in 1989. Since its establishment, the Genomic and Bioinformatics Team in Bari has been working at the forefront of bioinformatics research for the development of biological databases and sequence analysis software. As National EMBnet Node, the ITB has provided bioinformatics services, and organised courses and major events (conferences and workshops) in bioinformatics. In 2008, we were honoured to organise the first EMBnet International Conference in Martina Franca, a significant event to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of EMBnet.
