Poliammine e stress ossidativo nella propagazione in vitro di Obregonia denegrii

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
Polyamines have been reported to play important roles in a range of developmental processes including cell division, proliferation, morphogenesis, growth, and environmental stress responses of plants. In the present work, the influence of exogenously added polyamines on in vitro propagation of Obregonia denegrii has been studied. The results demonstrated that the addition of putrescine, spermidine and spermine to the cultural medium improved the shoot proliferation and reduced the hyperhydricity in a different way depending on the type and concentration of added polyamine. The analysis of endogenous polyamine content, malondialdehyde content and enzyme activities involved in the antioxidant action (ascorbate peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase and catalase), confirmed the role of polyamines in maintaining the membrane and nucleic acid integrity.
