Rapporto sulle Economie del Mediterraneo, edizione 2014

The 2014 edition of the Mediterranean Economy Report starts this year by analysing two factors. The first analysis is on a general overview of the new political-institutional systems in the Arab countries of the Mediterranean region updated to 2013. Particular stress has been given to their position within the international scene as well as their relation with Western countries. The second analysis looks at the Mediterranean area in wider context of world economy and pays attention to Europe before and after the global financial crisis, the role of Italy within the Mediterranean area. Another peculiar chapter is the one on "the Mediterranean Seas of Europe" presenting the Black Sea as a border region historically linked to the Mediterranean area. The following chapters deal with the corruption and government spending, the convergence and divergence of demography among the two basin coast, the role of remittances, the arrival of China and India in the Mediterranean economy, the environmental effects of tourism, energy production and consumption and the Mediterranean productivity in time of crisis. The analysis are punctual and concise, with an adjourned appendix which make the report useful for experts, institutions and economy dealers but also useful for students.
