Dalla città, le montagne. Torino e Piemonte attraverso la canzone

This book analyses the relationship between songs and the territory to which they belong. Isabella Maria Zoppi investigates the field of the singers and song-writers' work, starting from the Cantacronache's experience up to the most recent expressions, and she does this employing the lyrics as a tool to study the Piedmontese cultural identity. The research includes an essay by Franco Castelli, "Il canto popolare in Piemonte. Dalla 'scoperta' ottocentesca alla ricerca e alla riproposta del Novecento", and one by Alessio Lega, "La canzone che fa (la) storia. Percezione politico-sociale della città di Torino attraverso la canzone impegnata". The book contains also a cd which proposes an acustic and original version of some "piedmontese" songs by Cantacronache, Fausto Amodei, Enzo Maolucci, Lalli, Fred Buscaglione, Cantovivo, Yo Yo Mundi, Isa, Paolo Conte, Gipo Farassino, Mau Mau, Gianmaria Testa. The cd has been recorded under the artistic direction of Roberto Bartoli.
