Grande grande grande. Ieri oggi sempre Mina

Book
Publication Date:
2010
abstract:
In 1972, "Teatro 10", the last significant black and white TV show directed by Antonello Falqui, launches Mina's "Grande grande grande", which is probably her greatest worldwide hit. At the beginning of the turbulent Seventies, with Mina's voice the eternal Catullian "odi et amo" acquires a new awareness. Mina is an icon within the collective imaginary not only because of her repertoire choices and her interpretative talent, but also because since her debut she embodies that kind of woman which is able to challenge musical, social and show business conventions. Investigating social and historical fabrics surrounding "Grande grande grande", this essay tells also the story of a woman who has interpreted the spirit of her time.
