Considering the specifi city and cultural interest of qanats, UNESCO declared them as "Common Heritage of Mankind" in 2016. These ancient underground hydraulic systems still
have an important role for the territorial management in several areas of Iran and in particular in the whole Yazd province. Moreover qanats are an important touristic attraction and this arises the need to study the different problems related to their usability for visitors.
