abstract:
Decay channels in HCl, H2S and Cl2 molecules after excitation of 2p electrons to the first empty molecular orbitals have been studied using electron spectroscopy with synchrotron radiation. Dissociation followed by Auger decay in the excited fragments has been found to be the main decay channel in HCl and H2S whereas in Cl2 molecular resonance Auger process seems to play a major role in the decay of molecular resonance states.
