Abstract:
In this paper we present a novel model for the design of micrometric optical antennas applied to the detection of skin melanomas. The accuracy of the model allows to evaluate the near field generated by a micrometric aperture in parallel-plate waveguides. The presented method introduces the novel principle of simultaneous transverse resonance diffraction (STRD) which determines the order of singularity for different edges at optical frequencies. A good agreement between STRD and 3D finite element method results is found. Finally a possible implementation of the sensor improving gold/chitosan based nanotechnology is proposed.
