Weathering surveys and mapping in landslide hazard analysis: Studies on weathered gneiss in Sila Massif (Calabria, Italy)

In weathered crystalline rocks the evolution of slopes, and particularly of landslide phenomena, are mainly controlled by the characteristics and thickness of the weathering profile. Field analysis, classification and mapping of the weathering grade are therefore basic tools in geological and engineering geological studies for landslide hazard analysis.
