NONREDUCTIONAL MEIOTIC EVENTS A SPONTANEOUS AMPHIPLOID

Abstract
Publication Date:
1987
abstract:
A hybrid between Aegilops longissima and Triticum turgidum was obtained as a consequence of interspecific crossing programme. This hybrid set seed with a high frequency. Meiotic analysis showed that a Metaphase 1 same cells underwent mitotic-like division thus leading to the occurrence of non reduced cells. Pollen analysis showed roughly 20% of functional pollen, responsible for the observed fertility. The offsprings were normal 2n=42, fertile plants. Their storage proteins were analyzed wth the HPLC method.
