abstract:
The large number of theories about technological change testifies to a difficulty in devising and performing crucial experiments that would allow a rational choice between alternative explanations. A preliminary step in the methodo- logical path that must be completed to overcome this difficulty is the construction of coherent taxonomies of the S&T indicators available to test current theories.
