abstract:
Since almost 20 years, researchers with different background observed that very low amplitude electromagnetic fields can induce changes in the behaviour of some important biological function. It is generally accepted that the primary interaction site between extremely low frequency electric field and tissue is at the cell membrane level. This work is a computer simulation of the behaviour of a self-oscillating membrane cell described by the Hodgkin and Huxley equations under an exogenous electric field. We found very high sensitivity to very small current density and both amplitude and frequency windows.
